Attached is some information for you to reference throughout your DUI case. The information below and the attached sheet contain information pertinent to all DUI charges and includes information related to obtaining your Ignition Interlock Permit.
Please consider the following, and contact our office with any questions:
1.) Consider obtaining a Substance Abuse Evaluation. The evaluation will be used to determine a level of treatment recommendation. This can be utilized to negotiate a favorable outcome in your case. Participating in this evaluation is not an admission of guilt. See the attached document for more information.
2.) Follow the recommendations of the Substance Abuse Evaluation. Obtaining the evaluation is a step in the right direction, but obtaining an evaluation without following through with the recommendations will limit the effectiveness of this step. Ask your evaluator to provide you the evaluation and follow up regarding starting the recommended treatment.
3.) Participate in a 10-hour Drug and Alcohol Class:
4.) If your case involves an accident, assure that insurance is covering or will cover damages from the accident. You may be responsible for paying restitution for damages on your case either through insurance or out of pocket. Providing our office with written proof of insurance covering the damages is the best way to present this information.
5.) Consider attending AA meetings and document the date, location and try to have signed off on by the provider.
These are general recommendations that will assist us in resolving your case with the best obtainable outcome. Not all of them are necessary or required, but are dependent on the individual circumstances of your case. It is the client’s responsibility to assure that our office has all documentation of any of the above undertakings. As always, contact our office with any questions.
